(ENP Newswire Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) ENP Newswire - 11 February 2013
Release date- 08022013 - Lake Mary, FL - SunGard Public Sector announced today that James City County, VA, is among the first in the nation to deploy the Automated Secure Alarm Protocol (ASAP) integration with its ONESolution Computer-Aided Dispatch (CAD) software.
Developed by the Association of Public Safety Communications Officials (APCO) and the Central Station Alarm Association, the ASAP protocol streamlines communications between 9-1-1 public safety answering point staff and alarm monitoring companies, helping to ensure effective alarm notification and delivery.
'Thanks to SunGard's compliance with the ASAP national standard, alarm companies that use ASAP will no longer have to manually call in events to James City County's Emergency Communications Officers,' said Bill Hobgood, project coordinator for APCO's Comm Center & 9-1-1 Services Department. 'The process can be completely automated, which decreases telephone call volume to 9-1-1 centers from the alarm industry, decreases PSAP processing time, helps reduce mistakes and helps ensure quicker response time.'
ONESolution CAD's new ASAP feature set facilitates the automatic processing of alarm events as a new call-for-service appearing in the Open Calls window awaiting dispatch. Likewise, dispatchers can receive live updates from Alarm Monitoring Companies concerning an active alarm event, such as requests to cancel the dispatch or key-holder information. Dispatchers also have the ability to send updates to the alarm company operator. By helping to streamline communication, the integration helps improve agency efficiency and accuracy while helping provide faster service for alarm industry clients.
SunGard Public Sector's ONESolution public safety software suite links key information, people and devices to provide effective communications and support mission-critical scenarios. The ONESolution public safety products are the next version of the OSSI Public Safety Solution. All products are fully integrated, so data entries created in one application are accessible in other ONESolution and OSSI applications.
