I’m Reed Fish
(Video Business Via Thomson Dialog NewsEdge) SCREEN MEDIA/UNIVERSAL
Street: Sept. 4
Prebook: Aug. 7
> A folksy rom-com with a post-modern twist about a different kind of love triangle.
Just when you think the title is the worst thing about this wonderful small-town rom-com, you learn that the brightly polished, never predictable script was penned by a guy named Reed Fish! Its not the only surprise, but we wont spoil the revelation that neatly wraps up this offering. A young and experienced ensemble cast engagingly enacts what happens when a homegrown charmer (Schuyler Fisk) returns to Mud Meadows on the eve of radio host Reeds (Jay Baruchel) uneasy wedding to Kate (Alexis Bledel). Tightly woven subplots abound, giving featured players D.J. Qualls, Katey Sagal, Chris Parnell and Shiri Appleby a chance to shine. The rootsy soundtrack, highlighted by two Fisk originals, works wonders sewing the scenes together.
Shelf Talk
: It wont take much to keep this one moving once word gets out that its a genuine winner, with character-driven comedy (never crude) and lighthearted romance (never sappy) that will appeal to men and women across the board. Recent exposure by the castBaruchel in Knocked Up
, Bledel in TVs Gilmore Girls
, Appleby in TVs Roswell
and fan favorites Fisk (Sissy Spaceks daughter), Sagal (TVs Married With Children
), Qualls (Delta Farce
) and Parnell (TVs Saturday Night Live
) will draw attention. The studio is already pushing the title with trade ads; look for TV, print and radio ads as well as a publicity tour by the leads as street date nears.
