IT Department Budgets at Decreased Levels While Temporary Hires Increase

(PR Web Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) Atlanta, GA (PRWEB) July 28, 2014 IT department budgets are down from early year projections while revised budgets expect little-to-no change, according to a report released by TEKsystems earlier this month. Only 47 percent of IT managers expect an increase to their budget, a drop from the 62 percent reported in November 2013.

The quarterly "Reality Check" report released earlier this month, surveyed 240 IT leaders including IT vice presidents, IT directors and IT managers in June 2014. The results revealed that 37 percent of IT leaders expect their budgets to stay the course. When surveyed earlier this year, only 26 percent expected the same.

Hiring expectations for full-time IT employees has also decreased. In November 2013, 47 percent of IT leaders expected increases in full-time hiring. By the end of June 2014, that number dropped to 31 percent - a decrease of 16 percent.

While the number of temporary hires has decreased by 9 percent since the beginning of the year, the number of IT leaders who expect temporary hires this year increased slightly from those reported at the end of Q1. This indicates that temporary labor may be supplementing the slower growth in hiring full-time employees.
