ISS 2011 to Focus on Economic Trends and New Cyclical Forces in the Semiconductor Industry

(Targeted News Service Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) SAN JOSE, Calif., Nov. 17 -- The Semiconductor Equipment and Materials International issued the following news release: The SEMI Industry Strategy Symposium (ISS) 2011, the executive platform for discussing the trends and challenges converging on the semiconductor manufacturing industry, will focus on new forces and dynamics that are driving the semiconductor business cycle. Held in Half Moon Bay, Calif. on January 9-12, 2011, this year's program features presentations from industry leaders and top market economists who will lead insightful debates among CEOs of leading technology providers. Mark Durcan, president and chief operating officer of Micron, will provide the keynote address.

Building on the theme "The Role of Capital Efficiency through Cycles," the conference focuses on key industry trends including managing capital efficiency, maximizing R&D investment choices, investing in future growth, establishing sound collaboration and risk mitigation strategies, and recognizing adjacent market opportunities. Understanding financial and economic industry issues as they relate to the semiconductor industry is critical for industry decision makers in this challenging, dynamic planning environment.

The three-day conference features economic trends and forecasts from VLSI Research, Semico Research, Gartner, JP Morgan, and IC Insights; discussions on the key drivers in the semiconductor technology and capex cycle from Intel, Micron, GLOBALFOUNDRIES, Mentor Graphics, Synopsys, and DuPont; and insights on breakthrough adjacent market opportunities from the Consumer Electronics Association, U.S. Department of Energy, Think Equity and many others.

This year's highly-anticipated "Blue Chip Panel" will feature top executives from ATMI, Cymer, Cabot Microelectronics, JSR Corporation, and Synopsys offering strategic perspectives and executive insights.

New this year is a special joint session for both ISS and Strategic Materials Conference 2011 (http://www.semi.org/smc) attendees. The session begins with a focus on critical customer inputs and technology roadmap perspectives from leading global device companies including Intel, Micron and GLOBALFOUNDRIES. Then Novellus chairman Rick Hill explores the current outlook and judgment of leading investment and financial analysts covering the sector in the lively "Streetviews Panel." The joint session concludes with the "Blue Chip Panel" moderated by Michael Wright, president and CEO of Advanced Inquiry Systems.
