Intruder wounded in Pueblo West home: CRIME BEAT [The Pueblo Chieftain, Colo.](Pueblo Chieftain (CO) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) Mar. 4--A 32-year-old intruder in a Pueblo West home was shot in the leg early Wednesday and transported to a Denver hospital for treatment, according to the sheriff's office. The wounded suspect was identified as Chris Rasberry of Colorado Springs, according to Deputy Laurie Kilpatrick of the Pueblo County Sheriff's Department. Deputies received a 911 call about midnight Wednesday of a shooting in the 0-100 block of West Glenrose Drive. Kilpatrick would not release the name of the shooter or the homeowner. According to the Pueblo County Assessor's Web site, Vernon and Doreen Montoya own the home where the shooting happened. "A male party (later identified as Rasberry) was in the home, not known by the residents there. He was on the couch. We don't know what happened in the house, but they confronted the man and a family member of the homeowner shot the man in the leg with a 40-caliber handgun," Kilpatrick said. Rasberry was taken to Parkview Medical Center and later transferred to a Denver hospital. "As far as I understand it's not life-threatening. It is (serious bodily injury) because the bullet broke the bone," Kilpatrick said. Detectives initially did not find any signs of forced entry into the home, Kilpatrick said, but later discovered a door had been forced open. The investigation is ongoing. BURGLARIES EAST SIDE Electronics and jewelry valued at more than $10,000 were reported stolen Tuesday from the 100 block of North Glendale Avenue. Nancy Lucero reported the items missing after she came home and found her back door had been forced open, Pueblo police officer Chad Garcia said. Items stolen included a 47-inch, flat-screen LCD television, a Philips VCR/DVD player and a bag of jewelry with an estimated value of $10,000. Theresa Ornelas also reported her home in the 1700 block of East Sixth Street had been burglarized on Tuesday. Ornelas told Garcia the incident happened between 2 and 5 p.m., while she was visiting a family member in a local hospital. Electronics including a 52-inch Sharp plasma flat-screen TV, valued at $2,000, were stolen. A $500 pair of diamond earrings were also stolen, Garcia said. BELMONT Two men shattered a window and stole an estimated $1,700 worth of cigarettes from a closed convenience store early Wednesday. The incident happened at 1:34 a.m. at Loaf 'N Jug, 2810 Troy Ave., according to officer Stephen Perez. Witnesses saw the men run from the store to nearby Drew Dix Park, where they drove away in a silver car. Video surveillance showed the men throwing a rock through a front window and entering with plastic bags. One of the men wore a mask and the other had a hood over his face, Perez said. The nonmasked suspect appeared to be a 20- to 25-year-old "dark-skinned Hispanic male with possibly a mustache," Perez's report said. The burglar also wore a light-colored jacket. The second suspect wore a ski mask and a dark-colored jacket. Perez said both men appeared to be thin and about 5 feet 6 inches tall. Damage to the store was estimated at $1,000. ARRESTS Elisa Danette Chavez, 46, of the 300 block of East Spaulding Avenue, Pueblo West, was arrested Tuesday on suspicion of introduction of contraband, possession of a controlled substance, use of an ounce or less of marijuana and on a warrant for contempt of court for driving under the influence of alcohol. She was being held in Pueblo County jail in lieu of $12,500 bail. Kimberly Sue Gray, 26, of the 1200 block of Elm Street, was arrested Tuesday on warrants for identification theft, failure to appear in court for DUI and other outstanding municipal fines. She was being held in jail in lieu of $15,435 bail. Pamela Jane Holcomb, 40, of the 900 block of Jones Avenue, was arrested Tuesday on suspicion of weaving, DUI and possession of a controlled substance.
