IntegenX Announces the New RapidHIT® ID System Enabling DNA Identification Virtually Anywhere

IntegenX Inc., the global market leader for Rapid Human DNA identification, is pleased to announce the introduction of the RapidHIT ID System, providing forensic DNA profiles with unprecedented speed and ease of use. Whether deployed in a forensic lab or in other settings such as a law enforcement booking environment, in 90 minutes the RapidHIT ID delivers quality forensic DNA profiles on par with conventional systems typically found in centralized laboratories that typically take days to weeks to provide results.

The RapidHIT ID is designed for ease of use in virtually any setting. With a footprint smaller than a typical desktop printer, the system can be utilized in a broad array of settings. The RapidHIT ID uses the leading industry-standard chemistries and generates DNA profiles that are compatible with national DNA databases such as the FBI's Combined DNA Index System (CODIS). The significant advances in design also incorporate numerous efficiencies that make DNA profile generation more cost effective than ever. As a result, communities can now afford to perform such testing closer to the point of action.

"As one of the investigator sites for the RapidHIT ID, we are excited about this new instrument format and its facil and expeditious capabilities for generating a DNA profile," said Bruce Budowle, Ph.D., Executive Director of the Institute of Applied Genetics at the University of North Texas Health Science Center (UNTHSC). "The DNA profiles generated with the RapidHIT ID were comparable with those generated with the standard current laboratory-based platform."

"Having the ability to provide communities with such a simple and cost-effective tool to generate a forensic DNA profile at the point of action could ultimately play a role in helping reduce our nation's backlog of DNA samples," stated victims' rights advocate Natasha Alexenko of Natasha's Justice Project. "We can now imagine a day when a suspect's DNA is tested while in custody, making our communities safer and freeing valuable lab resources to focus on complex DNA tests such as rape kits."

"IntegenX has delivered a 21st century solution for Rapid DNA testing closer to the point of action," stated Robert A. Schueren, President and Chief Executive Officer of IntegenX. "This evolution of our established RapidHIT technology, which has been proven in numerous peer-reviewed publications, hundreds of database uploads and in the hands of numerous customers globally, is a dramatic advance forward in the democratization of forensic DNA testing."

IntegenX Inc., headquartered in Pleasanton, California, is the market leader of Rapid Human DNA identification technology.
