Importance of Open Communication Networks Featured at BroadSoft Conference

GAITHERSBURG, Md., Sept. 24 /PRNewswire/ -- BroadSoft, Inc., the leading provider of VoIP application software, has announced its keynote and session speakers for BroadSoft Connections 2008: Xtend. The company's annual executive user conference delves into how to create new opportunities to enhance core voice services with Web 2.0 and unified communications solutions.

As VoIP adoption increases, new demand for information and idea sharing will enable the industry to develop technologies designed for new communication options for businesses and consumers.

"Through Connections, we are creating the industry environment needed to address the future of communications," said Michael Tessler, BroadSoft's president and CEO. "VoIP and Web 2.0 communications enable customers to communicate via their preferred method and individual needs. Service providers that embrace flexible communications can offer their customers a unique communications experience."

To address the potential of Internet and communication technologies, the keynote address, Web 2.0 Telecommunications and Beyond, will be provided by Dr. James Canton, a renowned global futurist, social scientist and author of The Extreme Future: The Top Trends That Will Shape the World for the Next 5, 10, and 20 Years.

For more than 25 years, Canton has forecasted the impact of future trends and innovations on business, customers and society. He will discuss how business and technology have fused together into one system and how innovative organizations are embracing new business models of enterprise and marketplace collaboration.

Walt Mossberg, principal technology columnist for the Wall Street Journal, will moderate the first conference panel, Empowering Users with Open and Flexible Networks. Led by Mossberg, progressive Web 2.0 thought leaders will discuss the importance of open and flexible communication networks to allow end-users to define their own communication experience.

Participants on Mossberg's October 6th panel include:
-- Jeff Cavins, president and CEO of CallWave, a provider of Internet and mobile based unified communications solutions

-- Emily Nagle Green, president and CEO of Yankee Group, an independent technology research and consulting firm focused on Anywhere global connectivity

-- Shawn Hardin, president and CEO of Flock, a consumer technology company that has developed a social browser

The conversation will include how people are communicating via fixed and mobile phones, email, IM, blogs and social networking sites, eliminating the one-size-fits-all scenario for communication services.

The conference, BroadSoft Connections 2008: Xtend - Focuses on Extending Your Network of Opportunities, takes place Oct. 5-8 at the Westin Kierland Resort & Spa in Scottsdale, Ariz., and is directed at BroadSoft's service provider executives.

Now in its sixth year, BroadSoft Connections draws attendees from more than 30 countries, including the best minds within and outside telecommunications to share insights, best practices and ideas.
