I&M to Offer Customers Home Repair Service Plans Through HomeServe

Indiana Michigan Power (I&M), an operating unit of American Electric Power (NYSE:AEP), is pleased to announce the launch of a new home repair service plan program that will help customers protect critical service lines to their homes and potentially save them hundreds of dollars on repairs.

Indiana Michigan Power has partnered with HomeServe USA, a leading third-party provider of home emergency repair service plan programs, to offer optional protection to I&M residential customers on external electric lines, HVAC systems, water and sewer/septic systems and other home items not typically covered by basic homeowners insurance.

"We are excited to partner with HomeServe to offer protection service plans that will allow our customers to feel at ease and prepared in case of an emergency," said Paul Chodak III, I&M President and Chief Operating Officer.

The service plans available through HomeServe are priced between $5 and $11 per month depending on coverage selected. Customers who choose to enroll will be able to pay for the coverage on their monthly electric bill. The program is completely optional and the coverage can be canceled at any time.

The first service plan offered to I&M customers will be the Exterior Electric Line Coverage. This coverage can help customers avoid the frustration and cost of unexpected repairs as well as delays in power restoration when repairs are needed.

With this optional coverage, customers will receive:

  • Up to $3,000 in coverage annually
  • Multiple service calls per year, up to customer's annual coverage amount
  • 24-hour repair hotline
  • Priority repair status
  • Repairs performed by local, licensed electricians
  • One-year guarantee on all covered repairs

This week, customers will begin receiving information in the mail about the program and how to enroll.
