Hunters stand to win trip to Xi'an [New Straits Time (Malaysia)]

(New Straits Time (Malaysia) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) KUALA LUMPUR: JOIN the New Sunday Times Motor Hunt 2014 on Sept 28 and stand a chance of visiting one of the most interesting archeological finds in recent times - the Terracotta Army in Xi'an, China.

AirAsia X is sponsoring two return tickets from Kuala Lumpur to Xi'an for lucky winners of the hunt.

The famed Terracotta Army, also known as the Terracotta Warriors and Horses, is a collection of terracotta sculptures depicting the armies of Qin Shi Huang, the first emperor of China.

The discovery was made in March 1974 by farmers digging a water well.

AirAsia X flies four times a week from Kuala Lumpur to Xi'an. Visitors should also not miss visiting the Drum Tower and Bell Tower, the Great Mosque of Xi'an and spending an evening with the Qin Opera, the oldest Chinese opera still performing today.

Besides Xi'an, the long-haul low-cost carrier is also sponsoring two return tickets to Adelaide, Australia.

Participants of the hunt, the country's biggest, will be flagged off from Dataran Merdeka, here. The hunt will end in Putrajaya.

The fun-filled and exciting half-day event will take participants along various routes in the Klang Valley as they answer riddles and obtain hidden "treasures" along the way.

The hunt is divided into three categories - Open (beginner), Regular, and Closed (media/sponsor).

The grand prize is a Volkswagen Jetta, sponsored by Volkswagen Malaysia, who has been the hunt's main sponsor since its inception in 2012.

In 2012 and last year, the German automaker sponsored a Polo sedan, valued at RM100,000, as the grand prize.

Champions in each category will take home RM5,000. Prizes will also be awarded up to the fifth position in the regular and closed (media/sponsor) categories, while for the open category, prizes will be awarded up to the 30th position.

Other attractive lucky draw prizes, such as cruise holidays, mobile phones, home appliances and hotel stays, await participants.

The inaugural event in 2012 was recognised as the nation's biggest motor hunt, with some 1,000 people from 231 teams participating and prizes worth RM200,000 up for grabs.

Last year's affair was also a huge success, with more than 1,000 participants from 268 teams taking part.

Meanwhile, two more sponsors handed over their contributions for the hunt on Thursday and Friday at Balai Berita in Bangsar, here.

The first was Lam Soon Edible Oils Sdn Bhd, which sponsored a range of Antabax personal care products, such as shower cream, hand sanitisers, cleansing wipes and bar soap.

The company was represented by its household and personal care marketing division brand manager, Lee Khai Wan, and New Sunday Times by its assistant editor, P. Selvarani.

"We are proud to be associated with the New Sunday Times Motor Hunt, which is a healthy activity suitable for all," said Lee.

The other handing-over ceremony involved Celcom Axiata Berhad, which sponsored smart phones worth RM10,000.

The company was represented by its chief corporate communications and government liaison officer, Jefri Ahmad Tambi, and New Sunday Times by its editor, Chok Suat Ling.

Jefri said Celcom came on board as a sponsor as the company supported the promotion of challenging and healthy events.

"We believe events, such as the motor hunt, promote camaraderie, discipline and teamwork." Petronas is the fuel sponsor and Perbadanan Putrajaya the venue and food and beverage sponsor.

Other sponsors include Felda Global Ventures, Gamuda Berhad, Kedah government-linked company Bina Darulaman Berhad, QSR Brands, EXIM B ank , Philips Malaysia, Star Cruises, BlackBerry, Tesco, Hyatt Regency Kuantan Resort, Holiday Villa Hotels & Resorts, Hilton Kuala Lumpur, Mutiara Taman Negara, Holiday Villa Subang, Dutch Lady Milk Industries Berhad, Sime Darby, Mattel Malaysia, Milo Malaysia, Sushi King, Banana Boat, Mondelez Malaysia, Microsoft Mobile Devices, U Mobile, HTC Malaysia, LG Electronics, Epson, Schneider Electric, Permanis Sandilands, Shave2U.com and Kasperky Lab.
