Huawei Focuses on Opening Networks to a Better Connected World at Open Networking Summit 2015

SANTA CLARA, Calif., June 15, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Focusing on "Opening Networks to a Better Connected World" as its theme, Huawei will showcase its open north bound, agile networks, customer-driven use cases in Central Office environment for open SDN, and cloud-based infrastructure at this week's Open Networking Summit in Santa Clara, Calif.

During the Convention's exhibit hours, Huawei will showcase the following demos at the company's booth # 207:

  • Demo 1: Open Network Hypervisor (OpenNH) – By decoupling the physical network from the virtual network and providing a network virtualization layer, OpenNH provides a true open virtualized multi-tenant SDN solution empowering the customers to use guest SDN controller and provide network slicing. The demonstration will run two virtual networks, each running its own SDN controller (ONOS and ODL) concurrently, as well as 5G network slicing use case. Network hypervisor provides operational simplicity and efficiency, faster new service introduction, innovation openness, and enhanced security with full tenant service isolation.
  • Demo 2: NEMO Intent NBI – This demo will show a how Nemo's Intent-based interface for applications can create a virtual network or rearrange the traffic flows across the virtual network. A user has five VMs and wants to partition them into two groups, and deploy some access controls between the two groups, e.g., allow the http flow from group1 to group2, and deny the ftp flow from group2 to group1, and deploy bandwidth of demand for video flow, and so on. In this demo, user graphical interface translates the intent to Nemo scripts containing Nemo language commands which are sent from the application to the NEMO language engine embedded in the ODL controller. The Nemo language engine will render the NEMO scripts to southbound commands to controller(s).
  • Demo 3: SDN based IP + Optical Synergy – SDN-based IP & Optical Synergy provides multi-layer network automation, and multi-layer restoration to WAN network.
  • Demo 4: ONOS-Based Optical Transport Network Bandwidth on Demand – The demo will show four functions in optical area: Bandwidth scheduling, Allocation and management using Topology abstracted view using ONOS.
  • Demo 5: Enterprise vCPEs + L3VPN in NFV/SDN (ONOS) Central Office – This demo will show how open source NVF and SDN based service provider central offices can serve enterprise customers with vCPE solutions that use NFV on computing, networking and storage resources in central offices, and ONOS SDN enterprise LVPN in provider core. The demo presents a unified end-to-end service infrastructure which allows variety of vCPE solutions to be deployed on for an enterprise customer.
  • DEMO 6: China Unicom Agile L3VPN – SDN-based agile VPN site self-customization and bandwidth setting for the growth of the user's data traffic, which can be deployed to many PE routers through a friendly graphic page easily.
  • DEMO 7: Unified Secure Channel – Unified Secure Channel provides a converged secure ICT gateway for multiple protocols between SDN controller and network elements across wide area networks (WAN). It enables secure and high performance communication between controller and device. By establishing a unified secure tunnel, USC facilitates secure and reliable management and control of various devices, including network devices, cloud gateways, IoT devices, etc.

In addition to the demos, Huawei executives will be delivering keynotes on industrializing SDN and NFV using open source based innovation approach. Also, the company's technology leadership team will conduct several tutorial sessions at the Santa Clara Convention Center:

  • Ms. Helen Chen, Principal Engineer for Huawei, will participate on a plenary session titled, "Abstract: Enabling Intercloud and IoT using Unified Secure Channel." The session will take place on Monday, June 15 at 1:15 p.m. PT.
  • Mr. An Ho, Staff Engineer for Huawei, will participate on a plenary session titled, "Abstract: Enabling Intercloud and IoT using Unified Secure Channel." The session will take place on Monday, June 15 at 1:15 p.m. PT.
  • Ms. Susan Hares, Distinguished Engineer for Huawei, will lead a tutorial titled, "Tutorial T4: SDN Market Ops." The tutorial will take place at the Hyatt Regency Santa Clara on Monday, June 15 at 2:30 p.m. PT.
  • Ms. Helen Chen, Principal Engineer for Huawei, will participate on a plenary session titled, "The Future and Focus of OpenDaylight." The session will take place on Monday, June 15 at 4:45 p.m. PT.
  • Mr. Ayush Sharma, Senior Vice President, and IP Chief Technology Officer for Huawei, will participate on a plenary session titled, "SDN for Service Providers – Open Source Approaches." The session will take place on Wednesday, June 17 at 11:00 a.m. PT.

Huawei is a Visionary Sponsor of the Open Networking Summit held June 14-18 in Santa Clara, Calif., and will be available at booth #207 to provide product demonstrations.
