Houston Lighting and Electrical Contractor Sheds Light on Westpark Tollway Underpasses
HOUSTON, TX, Feb 11, 2013 (MARKETWIRE via COMTEX) --
Highlights Electrical, an electrical contracting company, has
installed energy efficient LED lighting at two Westpark Tollway
underpasses. The project was completed under contract with the
Westchase District. New clean, bright lights gleam under the Westpark
Tollway, at Briarpark and Wilcrest. Completed in February, the new
outdoor LED lighting creates a safer environment for pedestrians and
bikers.
Located adjacent to METRO bus stops, the LED lighting systems for the
underpasses were also designed to make bus riders feel more
comfortable when waiting for their respective bus. Irma Sanchez, vice
president of projects for Westchase District, also suggested that the
new outdoor LED lighting will "make it more convenient for bus riders
to get to and from the stops and their destinations."
Enhancing the entry points into the Westchase District, the outdoor
LED lighting replaced the low-pressure sodium fixtures that
illuminated the underpasses for years. The LED lighting system was
designed and installed by Houston's own electrical contracting
company, Highlights Electrical. This LED lighting brightens up two
critical toll way underpasses, which will hopefully encourage "people
to get out of their cars and enjoy more walking and bicycling," said
Sanchez. Moreover, Sanchez reports that she is "pleased" with the new
energy efficient lighting.
