Hive-IO Announces Availability of Utility Fabric on Intel NUC

This new release is optimized for the Intel NUC and incorporates all cloud component services including: hypervisor, network switch, connection broker, storage acceleration, inventory management, performance management and orchestration.

Hive-IO replaces expensive hardware equipment with inexpensive commodity equipment.  Typically, customers spent upwards of $15,000 per server configuration in order to host VDI (virtual desktop nfrastructure).  For small to medium size initial deployments, the overhead costs made it inaccessible and unattractive to deploy.  In contrast, a commodity NUC kit cost ranges from $400 to $1100 and can host from 4-15 virtual desktops.
