Herald & Review, Decatur, Ill., On Biz column: Busey Bank plans facility changes
(Herald & Review (Decatur, IL) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) Mar. 13--Busey Bank is planning changes to some of its Decatur-area locations that will take effect over the next few months.
The branch at 550 E. Prairie Ave.., a drive-up only facility, will close May 15, Regional President Chris Shroyer said. The bank is required to give 90 days' notice of the closure, he said.
A branch in Mount Zion will be changed into a drive-up-only facility at 1120 Illinois 121 as of March 16, Shroyer said.
Shroyer said the decisions were reached as the bank takes a look at its branch network and overlap throughout the company. The Prairie Avenue location in particular is just blocks away from Busey's main 130 N. Water St. location downtown.
The bank still is evaluating its branch alignment from when it merged with Main Street Bank & Trust in 2007. Busey previously had not been in the Decatur market.
"The Decatur market isn't going to have as much of the impact of that," Shroyer said.
The bank is encouraging customers who will be affected by the closing to visit other locations in the area.
Play It Again Sports is gearing-up for a big move: by the end of March, the new and used sporting goods store will relocate from its current spot at 4210 Prospect Drive to Brettwood Village.
There's no definite date for the move, but the March deadline is firm.
"They're painting and getting ready to put stuff on the walls," owner Larry Baker said of the new location. "I'm looking forward to being down there."
The new store will double the available space to more than 6,000 square feet, allowing Play It Again to beef up its range of exercise equipment, a popular item.
You can reach the store at 872-2434.
A west-end Decatur Memorial Hospital Express Care facility will open next week.

The facility has five exam rooms, a procedure room, X-ray room, lab, nurses station and reception area.
The opening of the office gives DMH Express Care facilities in each of the four quadrants in Decatur. A new north-end location opened in January.
The Fairview Plaza site will be open from 9 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. seven days a week.
A Decatur woman has created a business to help customers preserve memories of various events.
Heather Meadows will make video slideshows as part of her Memories in Motion business that she has started over the past several months.
"I didn't really know what to expect with it," Meadows said. "I didn't know there would be such an interest for it. I thought I'd try, and it's been doing really well."
The slideshows can be created for weddings, birthdays, baby's first year, graduations, dances and memorials, Meadows said.
"It can be for just about any occasion or event," Meadows said. "They make really great gift ideas."
Meadows can add anything from newspaper articles to photos and poems. It can be just as creative as the customer wants to make it, she said.
She enjoys seeing people react to the finished product.
"That's what I love about them," Meadows said. "I love watching people watch them. Some of them are just overcome with emotion. They just really love these."
