Harris Corporation Awarded Contract to Upgrade Air-to-Ground Radio Network at White Sands Missile Range

Harris Corporation (News - Alert) (NYSE:HRS) and Jotron AS will upgrade air-to-ground radios at the White Sands Missile Range as part of a five-year, $4 million U.S. Army Indefinite Delivery, Indefinite Quantity (IDIQ) contract to modernize the communications infrastructure that supports aerial missions at the range. The contract has a base period of one year with four option years. Under the first delivery order, Harris/Jotron is providing UHF and VHF digital radios for use in air traffic control (ATC) communications supporting the range's manned and unmanned sites.

The IDIQ contract has no upper limiting quantity and the 7000 series radios meet all current and emerging U.S. and International standards for ATC radios. Initial radio deliveries will be produced by Jotron at their facility in Tjodalyng, Norway. Future deliveries may be produced either at the Jotron facility or at the Harris production facility in Melbourne, Florida.

Harris is the prime contractor, with a long history of developing and integrating system solutions for commercial customers and government agencies worldwide, including the U.S. Army, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and global ATC networks. Jotron has a 40-year history of supplying aviation and maritime radios and communications systems around the world.
