Gun-making factory unearthed, 3 held with 11 arms in Khulna

Khulna, Jul 16, 2009 (Asia Pulse Data Source via COMTEX) -- Elite-force RAB unearthed a gun- making factory and held three persons along with arms at Gangmari in Batiaghata upazila early Thursday.

An official of RAB-6 in the guise of buyer contacted suspected arms trader Rabiul, 29, and after several days contact the official went to buy arms from him.

The RAB official caught Rabiul as he gave arms to the cop.

After hectic interrogation, a RAB team along with Rabiul went to Gangmari where the mini-ordnance factory was unearthed in the early hours of the day.


Delwar and Mintu Sheikh, two associates of Rabiul, were also held along with eight one-shutter guns, two pipeguns, one shotgun and huge amount of arms-making materials during the 4-hour-long raid on the factory.

?These different types of guns were made at the factory and these used to be supplied to pirates and dacoits in the area and in Sundarbans,? said one RAB source.


A case was filed with local thana in this connection.
