Greenplum Announces Data Warehouse Solution on EMC(R) CLARiiON(R)

San Mateo, CA, May 04, 2009 (PRWeb.com via COMTEX) -- Greenplum, a leading provider of database software for the next generation of data warehousing and analytics, today announced a data warehouse solution based on Greenplum Database (http://www.greenplum.com/products) and EMC(R) CLARiiON(R) (http://www.emc.com/products/family/clariion-family.htm) networked storage systems. The solution greatly increases performance and scalability of large-scale data warehouse systems.

Greenplum highlights the solution within the EMC Data Warehouse/Business Intelligence Competency Center. The solution provides an optimized storage area network (SAN) that addresses emerging challenges related to data warehouse and business intelligence deployments. By leveraging data center standards, Greenplum offers a much more cost-effective data warehouse solution compared to proprietary and costly appliances.

"Greenplum customers are able to store and manage ever-increasing data volumes because Greenplum Database runs on a range of non-proprietary hardware platforms," said Frank Bien, Vice President of Business Development at Greenplum. "With the EMC CLARiiON part of our new data warehouse solution, Greenplum extends our efforts to deliver standards-based solutions that work with our customers' existing technology, and enables Greenplum customers to use infrastructure based on their data center standards." Greenplum's core capability developing and delivering massively-scalable data warehousing solutions combined with EMC's decades of experience in delivering industry-leading disaster recovery and high availability and manageability products provide an optimized networked storage solution for Greenplum Database. By leveraging the CLARiiON networked storage system, the solution forms a SAN-based configuration for high performance and availability.

"EMC and Greenplum share a common vision for the future of computing, one in which information is becoming the single most important asset to a business," said EMC's Chuck Hollis, EMC Vice President, Global Marketing Chief Technology Officer. "The EMC CLARiiON complements Greenplum Database, ensuring that mutual customers can extract more value from their data without adding extensive cost or non-standard platforms to their data center."
