The Greeley City Council has announced recent appointments to city commissions and boards.

Bruce Martin with the Weld County Sheriff's Office has been named to the Civil Service Commission.



Clarence Dye, who is retired, has been named to the Construction Trades Advisory and Appeals Board.

Don Hoff, who is self employed, and Aron Stencel, a StarTek employee, have been named to the Judicial Review Board.

David Seckler, a consultant, and Mick Todd, who is employed at Cottonwood Management Co., have been appointed to the Water and Sewer Board.

Shea Craven, Leslie Phillipsen, Rosalie Nava and Alec Wheeler, who are all students, have been named to the Youth Commission.

Scott Woods has joined Delta Construction, a general contractor in Colorado and Wyoming.

Woods' experience in the real estate industry and background in economics allows him to evaluate the economic feasibility of clients' projects. His addition allows Delta to offer additional services such as proforma analysis, market studies, partnership arrangements, and lending assistance.

Thomas D. Grant, Brad L. Hoffman and Ryan L. Kamada have announced their new partnership and the formation of their new law firm -- Grant, Hoffman & Kamada, P.C.

The firm was formerly known as Grant-Dickson Law Firm, LLC. Dickson & Dickson, LLC will remain of counsel to the firm. The firm's office at 821 9th St. and the telephone number, (970) 356-5666, remain the same.

Georgia Harper has been named community branch manager at Advantage Bank's Greeley location.

She has 27 years of banking experience, all within the Greeley area.

Harper graduated from Greeley Central High School and went on to attend the University of Northern Colorado. Harper was recognized regionally in 2007 for customer sales and service, ranking eighth for store managers within Greeley, Boulder, Longmont, Sterling and Fort Collins.

Kristen Specketer has joined The Group Inc. Real Estate as a broker associate/partner.

Specketer has an undergraduate degree in business marketing and previously was with a LoDo real estate company in Denver where she was vice president of operations.

Karen Andre of Greeley attended this year's Mary Kay Seminar in Dallas where she was crowned the Queen of Personal Sales for the Suzanne Brothers' National Area.

Andre also was in the Top 20 for Personal Sales in the Diamond Seminar and was awarded a diamond ring from the company for her accomplishments. She was recognized as being a Star for all four quarters, received a Gold Medal for the month of June, and was a winner for one of the company's challenges.

Jeff Cornelius has joined Norbel Credit Union as manager of the business lending and first mortgage divisions.

Cornelius came to Norbel from Grand Island, Neb., with more than 17 years experience in commercial lending, mortgages, and banking management. While in Nebraska, he was an assistant vice president, a branch manager and a consumer loan officer for the Bank of Doniphan for almost 14 years as well as a commercial loan officer and mortgage loan officer for Platte Valley State Bank and Acceptance First Mortgage.

Lew Gaiter III has been elected president of the Northern Colorado Networking Group, replacing Peter Olins.

John Privette was elected to the newly created position of vice president of community relations.

Tortuga Bay Scuba, 6200 9th St., a full service snorkel and scuba diving facility doing business in Greeley and the surrounding area since 1998, has scored a 9.9 out of a possible 10 points on a Council on Retail Excellence survey.

Each year, teams of evaluators from the council visit thousands of retail scuba diving facilities in the United States and Canada and rate them based on five categories, including exterior presentation, interior presentation, training, activities and Web site. Included in these categories are cleanliness, signage, organization, state of the art equipment, personnel, attitude and professionalism. The survey covers 50 items ranked on a scale of 1-10. The average for all the facilities surveyed was 8.1.

Solecki Chiropractic and Physical Therapy Clinic has been selected for the 2008 Best of Greeley Award in the Chiropractors category by the U.S. Local Business Association.

Each year, the USLBA identifies companies that have achieved marketing success in their local community and business category.

Quite Contrary by Carla, a flower shop that offers floral designs and items for the home, has re-located to 208 1st St. in Eaton. EnCana Oil and Gas (USA) Inc., and Noble Energy have won 2007 Outstanding Operations Awards from the Colorado Oil and Gas Conservation Commission.

Each January, the COGCC places a call for nominations for the awards, which are presented annually and are intended to recognize the oil and gas industry in Colorado in several operations, environmental and community involvement categories.

EnCana was recognized with an Environmental Protection Award. It received the Production Partner of the Year award from the U.S. EPA Natural GasStar Program, which encourages natural gas and oil industry companies to adopt cost-effective technologies and practices that improve operation efficiency and reduce emissions of methane.

In 2007 EnCana achieved more methane emission reductions from its operations than nearly 120 other oil and gas companies with much of EnCana's success in reducing methane emissions occurred in the Denver-Julesberg Basin of northern Colorado.

EnCana and Noble Energy, along PetroHunter Energy Corp. were all recognized with the Community Relations Award, which recognized reduced industry impacts to local communities and to provide better communications regarding issues of noise, traffic, dust, odors, speeding and other concerns.
