Granite Telecom Reaches Billion Dollar Revenue Goal

Granite Telecommunications (News - Alert), LLC, a provider of voice, data, networking, and other communications services, announced today it has surpassed $1 billion in annualized revenue, reaching the goal several months ahead of projections. To celebrate the achievement, the company is holding a series of events for employees, its community and its customers.

Granite was founded 12 years ago by CEO and President Rob Hale and his father in rented office space above a Quincy, MA, bridal salon with fewer than two dozen employees. The company has since experienced meteoric growth by providing customized communications solutions to multisite businesses, including over three quarters of the Fortune 100. Granite now has more than 1,200 employees and serves more than 13,500 business and government customers at over 240,000 locations across the United States and Canada with over 1.35 million phone lines and 115,000 data lines.

The company utilizes the copper wiring found in traditional telecommunication networks to offer reliable, cost-effective communications services to customers whose locations span multiple states. Traditionally these businesses would need to work with multiple service providers for their communications needs. By choosing Granite, businesses deal with one provider, simplifying service procurement. Granite's unique billing capabilities allow customers unprecedented flexibility with their billing options, for example, customers can receive one consolidated bill at the corporate level, individual bill separated by location, paper or paperless, or consolidated or itemized.

To celebrate the $1 billion achievement, Granite will award all employees a $1,000 bonus, and raffle another $1 million across its employee base, with more than 100 employees taking home an additional $5,000 to $100,000. Employees are being treated to a celebratory dinner cruise and will receive special shirts supplied by Nike, a Granite customer. Granite customers Panera Bread, Maggiano's and Domino's will also be providing a catered employee lunch at Granite's corporate headquarters.

In addition, Granite is giving back to the community by donating $1 million across five charities: Dana Farber Cancer Institute, Alzheimer's Association, Autism Speaks, Boston Children's Hospital and the Animal Rescue League of Boston. Charities were nominated and selected by Granite employees, who voted to determine the allocation of the $1 million payout between the five organizations.

Granite has been expanding rapidly-more than 20 percent per year in recent history. The company recently opened an office in New York City to accommodate the company's tremendous growth. The New York office marks the fifth newly opened and expanded office space for the company, which has expanded its headquarters in Quincy, MA, and opened new offices in Atlanta, Miami and Providence, RI, in recent years.
