GP partners with WiMax operators


(United News of Bangladesh Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) Dhaka, Apr 23 (UNB) Agni Systems Ltd and ADN Telecom Ltd and two leading internet Service providers and have partnered with Grameenphone to launch fixed WiMax services in Dhaka and Chittagong.



This was formally announced on Wednesday at a launching event of the service at a local hotel.

Mohammad Abdus Salam, Managing Director of Agni Systems Ltd, Asif Mahmood, Managing Director and Chairman, ADN Telecom Ltd and Emdadul Haque, Deputy Director, Technology of Grameenphone, jointly launched the services.


The ISP's will use Grameenphone's network to provide service to the customers while GP's marketing and distribution channel will be used to market the product. GP will also provide customer service which will be suitable for the big screen users in homes and offices.

Grameenphone's superior network will ensure quality of the services. Initially the customers will be able to use unlimited internet at upto 1mbps speed starting at BDT 4232 while economy packs like 512kpbs 3GB pack at BDT 550 are also available. Device price is BDT 2450.

Grameenphone believes that Internet can play a crucial role in the development of Bangladesh. The company has been providing 2G Internet service around the country and recently covered all 64 district towns of the country with 3G network. Now WiMax is adding another feather to its Internet portfolio, according to grameen phone sources.
