Governor Sandoval Proclaims Jan. 22-28 "School Choice Week in Nevada"; Joins Leaders Nationwide in Celebrating Opportunity in Education

Governor Brian Sandoval has officially proclaimed Jan. 22-28 as School Choice Week in Nevada, joining 14 other governors and more than 500 city and county leaders in issuing similar proclamations.

With more than 21,000 independently planned events, including more than 160 in Nevada, National School Choice Week 2017 will be the largest ever celebration of opportunity in education. Events include rallies, roundtable discussions, coffeehouse meet-ups, festivals, school fairs, and more.

National School Choice Week is a nonpartisan, nonpolitical effort seeking to raise awareness about the school choice options parents have, or want to have, for their children.

"We are grateful to Gov. Sandoval for proclaiming School Choice Week in Nevada," said Andrew Campanella, president of National School Choice Week. "We are hoping parents in Nevada and elsewhere inthe U.S. will find out what options are available to them and find a school that's the right fit for their children."

Held every January, National School Choice Week is an independent public awareness effort designed to shine a positive spotlight on effective education options for every child. Through thousands of independently planned events across the country, National School Choice Week raises public awareness of all types of educational choices available to children. These options include traditional public schools, public charter schools, public magnet schools, online learning, private schools, and homeschooling.
