Governor Ivy Proclaims Jan. 21-27 "Alabama School Choice Week"; Joins Leaders Nationwide in Celebrating Opportunity in Education

Thanks to a proclamation from Gov. Ivy, Jan. 21-27 will officially be Alabama School Choice Week. Dozens of other governors and hundreds of city and county leaders nationwide have issued similar proclamations.

More than 500 events and activities have been independently planned across the state of Alabama. Event planners hope to encourage conversation about educational options that parents have, or want to have, for their children.

Nationwide, more than 32,000 events will take place, including rallies, roundtable discussions, coffeehouse meet-ups, festivals, school fairs, and more.

"We're grateful to Gov. Ivy for issuing this proclamation," said Andrew Campanella, president of National School Choice Week. "We hope Alabama parents, and parents everywhere, can use this week to seek out and find the school or educational settig that best meets their children's needs."

Held every January, National School Choice Week is an independent, nonpartisan, nonpolitical public awareness effort designed to shine a positive spotlight on effective education options for every child. Through thousands of independently planned events across the country, National School Choice Week raises public awareness of all types of educational choices available to children. These options include traditional public schools, public charter schools, public magnet schools, online learning, private schools, and homeschooling.
