Governor Hogan Proclaims Jan. 21-27 "Maryland School Choice Week"; Joins Leaders Nationwide in Celebrating Opportunity in Education

Gov. Hogan has issued a proclamation declaring Jan. 21-27 Maryland School Choice Week. In doing so, he joined dozens of other governors and hundreds of city and county leaders nationwide in issuing similar proclamations.

Parents, schools, and other organizers have planned 479 events and activities across the state of Maryland, including rallies, roundtable discussions, coffeehouse meet-ups, festivals, school fairs, and more, aiming to spark conversations about the educational opportunities parents have, or want to have, for their children.

More than 32,000 events have been independently planned for the week nationwide, raising awareness about opportunity in education.

"We are excited that Maryland parents are so enthusiastic for school choice, and we're grateful to Gov. Hogan for supporting them in that," said Andrew Campanella, president of Ntional School Choice Week. "We wish Marylanders the best in their National School Choice Week celebrations."

Held every January, National School Choice Week is an independent, nonpartisan, nonpolitical public awareness effort designed to shine a positive spotlight on effective education options for every child. Through thousands of independently planned events across the country, National School Choice Week raises public awareness of all types of educational choices available to children. These options include traditional public schools, public charter schools, public magnet schools, online learning, private schools, and homeschooling.
