Governor Haslam Proclaims Jan. 21-27 "Tennessee School Choice Week"; Joins Leaders Nationwide in Celebrating Opportunity in Education

Thanks to an official proclamation from Gov. Haslam, Jan. 21-27 will be School Choice Week in Tennessee. Dozens of other governors and hundreds of city and county leaders nationwide have issued similar proclamations.

In Tennessee, 640 School Choice Week events and activities have been planned independently, with a goal of raising awareness of and sparking conversations about the educational options parents have, or want to have, for their children.

More than 32,000 School Choice Week gatherings will take place nationwide - including rallies, roundtable discussions, receptions, coffeehouse meet-ups, movie screenings, festivals, school fairs, and more.

"We're grateful to Gov. Haslam for issuing this proclamation," said Andrew Campanella, president of National School Choice Week. "The enthusiasm that Tennesseeans and other Americans have for school choice i incredible. We hope parents in the Volunteer State will take this opportunity to find the best schools for their children."

Held every January, National School Choice Week is an independent, nonpartisan, nonpolitical public awareness effort designed to shine a positive spotlight on effective education options for every child. Through thousands of independently planned events across the country, National School Choice Week raises public awareness of all types of educational choices available to children. These options include traditional public schools, public charter schools, public magnet schools, online learning, private schools, and homeschooling.
