Governor Bryant Proclaims Jan. 21-27 "Mississippi School Choice Week"; Joins Leaders Nationwide in Celebrating Opportunity in Education

Thanks to a proclamation from Gov. Bryant, Jan. 21-27 will be School Choice Week in Mississippi. Dozens of other governors and hundreds of city and county leaders nationwide have issued similar proclamations.

More than 32,000 events and activities, including 253 in Mississippi, have been planned around the country for National School Choice Week. The rallies, roundtable discussions, coffeehouse meet-ups, festivals, school fairs, and receptions aim to spark conversations about educational options that parents have, or want to have, for their children.

"We hope parents in Mississippi and around the country will use this week to talk about what kind of education they want for their children," said Andrew Campanella, president of National School Choice Week. "We're excited that Gov. Bryant has issued this proclamation, helping to raise awareness of al the educational opportunities available in the Magnolia state."

Held every January, National School Choice Week is an independent, nonpartisan, nonpolitical public awareness effort designed to shine a positive spotlight on effective education options for every child. Through thousands of independently planned events across the country, National School Choice Week raises public awareness of all types of educational choices available to children. These options include traditional public schools, public charter schools, public magnet schools, online learning, private schools, and homeschooling.
