Global Genes Expands Executive Leadership Team to Magnify Efforts for the Worldwide Rare Disease Community

Global Genes, one of the world's leading nonprofit rare disease patient advocacy organizations, today announced the addition of new senior leadership to strengthen worldwide advocacy efforts for the collective rare disease community. Joining the Executive Leadership team are Scott Pearl as Chief Marketing Officer and Tricia Mullins as Vice President of Strategic Alliances. The organization also welcomes Ken Brooks as Director of Marketing.

"This is a very exciting time for Global Genes," stated Nicole Boice, Founder and CEO of Global Genes, who started the global organization to bring hope to families affected by rare disease. "We have never been as equipped as we are today to support patients, families and foundations in our rare disease family. With the addition of these team members, we will be better positioned to meet the needs of both our advocacy and industry partners, with the ultimate goal being to create more impact for patients worldwide."

Tricia Mullins joins Global Genes as Vice President, Strategic Alliances. She will lead the Strategic Alliances team's efforts to build and strengthen relationships between Global Genes and the biotech/pharmaceutical industry, create unique programs that build strong connections between advocates and industry, and lead new business development and strategic efforts, including the RARE Corporate Alliance. Mullins has 20 years of senior level experience in healthcare and the biotech and pharmaceutical sectors, having held senior leadership positions in sales, management, marketing, business development, patient outreach and patient advocacy. "I've spent a great deal of my career building relationships with rare disease patients, understanding their challenges, providing hope and solutions for patients, caregivers and families in searc of answers," stated Tricia Mullins.

"I'm committed to making sure that patients with rare medical conditions get the support they need, access to care and novel therapies. My life is about making a difference, I'm excited to be a part of this unique organization, Global Genes, and to strengthen our worldwide efforts to overcome the challenges in rare disease," said Tricia Mullins.

Scott Pearl joins Global Genes as Chief Marketing Officer and is a RARE dad and successful entrepreneur who has helped to build companies across the technology, telecom, and retail industries, several of which were acquired. He transitioned to the nonprofit sector, where he could make a global impact. Pearl served as Director of Strategic Marketing and Corporate Development and as acting Chief Information Officer for a Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR (News - Alert)) effort of a multinational corporation. He then served as the Chief Marketing Officer for the world's largest association of professional fundraisers. He subsequently served as interim senior director for one of the country's oldest and largest child advocacy organizations, overseeing marketing, membership, field services and training, and helping to grow engagement of 4 million members nationwide.

"As a parent advocate, I know how difficult it is for families to access support and resources," said Scott Pearl. "This opportunity represents a chance for me to help millions of people, while helping my family as well."

Rare disease affects over 30 million in the U.S. alone, equivalent to more than 1 in 10 Americans, and over 350 million are affected worldwide. "By working together with our teams, partners, and friends of the rare disease community, we can grow much needed awareness, support and funding," said Pearl. "I believe that Global Genes is poised to become a leading catalyst and change agent for this deserving community of millions."

Ken Brooks joins Global Genes as the new Director of Marketing and brings with him 20 years of experience as a healthcare marketing professional. He has amassed expertise leading national marketing agencies, overseeing publications, and managing product development and marketing within the software sector. With experience in specialty pharmacy and a focus on rare diseases, Ken will help lead the marketing team and marketing partners to ensure Global Genes is amplifying the voices of the rare disease community.

"This is where I want to be," stated Ken Brooks. "I have never met a team so dedicated and committed to changing the landscape for an underserved community worldwide. I am excited to be part of what I know is an organization influencing great change and impacting so many lives."
