Global Crossing opens PoP facility
(BNamericas.com Via Thomson Dialog NewsEdge) International connectivity provider Global Crossing (Nasdaq: GLBC) has opened a new point of presence (PoP) facility in Monterrey city that will provide access to its MPLS IP-based network, the company said in statement.
Through the Monterrey facility, the company will offer IP-based solutions and traditional services such as international and private lines, broadband internet access, IP VPN, collaboration services, ATM and frame relay.
Global Crossing's fiber-optic MPLS-based network in Mexico runs through a terrestrial system connecting the urban centers of Mexico City, Monterrey, Guadalajara and Mazatlan and to Tijuana through a subsea system.
"Mexico continues to be a key market within our global strategy and we're pleased to expand our IP infrastructure in response to growing customer demand," Global Crossing CEO John Legere said in the statement.
Global Crossing has seen its Mexican client base grow 64% from 2Q05 to 2Q06, and recently expanded its VoIP outbound service to customers in Argentina, Brazil and Chile, BNamericas previously reported.
