GCB Adopts Measures to Give Customers Better ATm Service

(Public Agenda (Ghana))Customers of the Ghana Commercial Bank (GCB) would from January next year not experience the frequent malfunctioning of their Automated Teller Machine (ATM) service following the recruitment of people, who would service the ATMs and make sure they functioned effectively.

Their main duty would be to manage the more than 20 ATM facilities nationwide to ensure that the machines operated efficiently and had cash for users.

Responding to questions regarding recent complaints by some ATM users of the Bank, Mr Roko Frimpong, Deputy Managing Director of the GCB, told the GNA that the problems were not created deliberately as some customers might want to suggest.

A number of frustrated ATM users complained to the GNA about the malfunctioning of the facilities especially in Accra as this year's Christmas drew near.

Mr Frimpong said the frustration of the customers had been observed of late but indicated that the situation could have arisen from the increase in the average number of hits by customers and the fact that the country used smaller denominations. The problem could also be technical in nature.

He said with the recruitment of the new custodians of the ATMs the situation would improve. He said that GCB was doing everything possible to ensure that the ATM customers had reliable, safe and efficient service all the time.
