FRX Polymers is Named in the Global Cleantech 100

CHELMSFORD, Mass. --(Business Wire)--

FRX Polymers, Inc. (FRX), the manufacturer and marketer of Nofia®, a family halogen-free polymeric flame retardant blend components, announced today that it has been included in the 2014 Global Cleantech 100 list. The prestigious award is presented annually to the top 100 most promising and innovative firms by the Cleantech Group, a leading global research and advisory firm focused on sustainable innovation. The company received the award on October 6th at the Global Cleantech 100 Summit & Gala in Washington, D.C. FRX received the additional distinction of being placed on the "Lust" list, which is comprised of the top three companies from the Global Cleantech 100 who received the most peer validations from the expert panel without any negative cases.

This year, a record number of 5,995 nominations were received from 60 countries. The 84-member expert panel was drawn equally from leading financial investors and representatives of multi-national corporations and industrials active in technology and innovation scouting across Asia, Europe, and North America. The composition of the expert panel broadly represents the global cleantech community, from pioneers and leaders to veterans and new entrants.

Nofia®, FRX Polymers' polymeric flame retardant additives, replaces halogenated flame retardants, which are widely used and are being phased out due to toxicity concerns. Nofia products have been registered globally and have a favorable toxicological profile. Nofia products are produced using sustainable green chemistry principles in that its process is solvent free, creates no waste bi-products and has near 100% atom efficiency.

<> "We are honored to have been placed on the prestigious Global Cleantech 100 list of leading private companies in the Cleantech space. The GCT100 consists of very impressive companies and to be placed with this group by our peers is highly gratifying. The award recognizes the FRX Team's commitment to developing products that address an important market need while also protecting our environment with sustainable materials," said Marc Lebel, President and CEO of FRX Polymers. "To receive the additional honor of being just one of three companies placed on the "Lust" list among the 100 is inspiring and provides impartial third party confirmation of FRX's mission to become the top company in the field of sustainable Flame Retardants."

"The Global Cleantech 100 provides us with invaluable insight into which companies, experts in the market believe are poised to have a significant impact in the next 5-10 years," said Richard Youngman, Cleantech Group's MD, Europe & Asia and creator of the GCT100 program. "FRX Polymers is one such company, well-positioned for accelerated growth, as it brings much needed fundamental product improvement and environmental benefits to the 50-year old flame retardant plastics industry".
