Friday boys basketball roundup
NEOGA, Dec 19, 2009 (Effingham Daily News - McClatchy-Tribune Information Services via COMTEX) --
Teutopolis High School played spoiler in a big way Friday, handing Neoga a 61-39 boys' basketball defeat in the Indians' homecoming game.
Making the National Trail Conference defeat especially tough for Neoga (5-4, 2-2 NTC) was the fact that it outscored the Wooden Shoes in each of the first two quarters and carried a 25-21 lead at halftime.
T-town was apparently a different team after the break, outscoring Neoga 20-7 in each of the final two stanzas.
Jeremy Niebrugge paced the Shoes (7-1, 2-0) with 16 points, while Derek Thompson scored 10; Neoga got 15 points, seven rebounds and three assists out of Dalton Robinson.
The Indians have dropped two in a row and three of four heading into the Monticello Holiday Hoopla tournament, which begins Saturday, Dec. 26.
Teutopolis has one more game before the Charleston Holiday Tournament, carrying a four-game winning streak into Tuesday's non-conference home date with Casey-Westfield.

At Windsor
Friday's second installment of the annual home-and-home boys' basketball series between Stewardson-Strasburg and Windsor was much closer than the first, but the same squad came away a winner.
Stew-Stras posted a 66-59 victory over Windsor, outscoring the Blue Devils 23-10 in the fourth quarter of a National Trail Conference matchup.
The Comets (6-0, 2-0 NTC) remained undefeated thanks to 21 points from both Jaden Widdersheim and Will Rincker, while Kyle Floyd dropped 27 for Windsor (4-5, 1-2) and twin brother Ryne Floyd added 20.
