Free youth soccer clinic to feature Lalas

Nov 06, 2009 (The Honolulu Advertiser - McClatchy-Tribune Information Services via COMTEX) -- A free soccer clinic, scheduled to feature former U.S. National Team star Alexi Lalas, will be held Nov. 14.

The clinic, sponsored by Verizon Wireless, along with MJL and AYSO, is open for those from 5 to 17 years of age and will be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Waipi'o Peninsula Soccer Park.

Registration will be from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at Pearl Highlands Center (top parking level) and Sunday at Windward Mall (ground level).

The first 100 to register at one of the Verizon Wireless Communication Stores at the Pearl and Windward locations will receive a free soccer ball the day of the clinic.

Participants will receive a free soccer jersey, soccer ball, water bottle and sport sack.

Dynamo's Ching will hold clinic for youths Kamehameha alum Brian Ching of the Houston Dynamo and the U.S. Men's National Team will Headline 1 the 12th annual ProXtreme Camp Dec. 26-30 at Wai'alae Iki.

Joining Ching will be Clint Mathis (Real Salt Lake), Kenji Treschuk (Charleston Battery), Allison Lipsher (WPS's Boston Breakers) and Mele French (WPS's champion Sky Blue FC).



The camp is open for boys and girls, ages 5-14. No experience is necessary.
