FNB Namibia Appoints New Chief Executive Officer


(AllAfrica Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) FNB Namibia has announced that Sarel van Zyl will take over as CEO from Ian Leyenaar from 1 December 2014.

Leyenaar was appointed as CEO in 2009. Under his leadership FNB increased its headlining earnings from N$353 million to N$765 million.

Other milestones Leyenaar recalls is the improvement in staff engagement, FNB Namibia's participation in the 2010 Soccer World Cup, the progress made with innovative self-service banking solutions, the introduction of RMB to Namibia, and the construction of the new head office building in Windhoek.



After being the CEO of FNB Zambia since February 2011,van Zyl is returning to Namibia. He was born in Mariental and matriculated in Otjiwarongo, and started his banking career with Barclays in Okahandja in 1981. He progressed to Head of Retail Banking before taking up the position as CEO in Zambia.
