Florida Institute and IP TechEx Form Strategic Alliance

The Florida Institute for the Commercialization of Public Research (the Institute) announced today that it has entered a strategic alliance agreement with IP Technology Exchange, Inc. (IP TechEx), a worldwide leader in open innovation and technology services. The Institute supports new company creation based on publicly-funded research across the state, and bridges early funding gaps for companies spinning out of universities and research institutions.

The alliance is designed to, on a selective basis, increase collaborative business opportunities for each entity, as well as for the companies they each support. IP TechEx will leverage its vast academic and corporate networks and business and intellectual property services platform to help companies analyze market trends, capitalize on IP white space opportunities and identify potential sources of capital and other partnership opportunities, while the Institute will introduce IP TechEx to portfolio companies who may benefit from the tools and service offerings that the company provides.

"Through its networks, IP TechEx has access to scouting experts, partner sourcing, licensing expertise, and leading online marketplaces to help compnies with their in-licensing and out-licensing needs," said Joel Edelson, Director of IP Licensing at IP TechEx. "We help companies identify and connect with the resources they need to bring their ideas to market, and we look forward to working with the Institute to support promising innovation-based Florida businesses."

"IP TechEx is an innovative company offering a variety of services and tools that we believe could be of great value to the companies we support," said Jamie Grooms, CEO of the Institute. "Through this alliance, the Institute will begin to offer enhanced services to our growing portfolio of companies, providing them with access to investor networks and other resources that are critical to their long term growth and success."
