Five Mintz Levin Members Named Washington, D.C. Super Lawyers
WASHINGTON --(Business Wire)--
David Barmak, Hope S. Foster, Paul E. Pelletier, Bruce D. Sokler, and
Howard J. Symons (News - Alert) of Mintz,
Levin, Cohn, Ferris, Glovsky and Popeo, P.C. have been selected as
Washington, D.C. Super Lawyers for 2012. The list was published in the Washington
Post Magazine on April 29, 2012 and in the May 2012 edition of DC
Magazine.
The annual publication identifies lawyers who have attained a high
degree of peer recognition and professional achievement. Only five
percent of Washington, D.C. lawyers were named 2012 Washington, D.C.
Super Lawyers.
David
Barmak is the Chairman of the firm's Employment,
Labor & Benefits Section. Mr. Barmak has extensive experience as
a trial lawyer and advisor on a broad range of employment law and other
issues. He has represented clients in complex litigation involving
employment discrimination, non-competition agreements and trade secret
issues, wage and hour (FLSA) compliance, employment contract disputes
and other matters. Mr. Barmak has been named as one of the area's Super
Lawyers in employment and labor law in both Washington, D.C. (2007, 2010
and 2011) and Virginia (2006). He has also been selected as a Fellow in
the Litigation Counsel of America (LCA) and as a member the American
Trial Lawyers Association. Mr. Barmak received his B.A., magna cum
laude, from the State University of New York at Buffalo and his J.D.
from Georgetown University Law Center.
Hope
S. Foster is a Member of the firm's Health
Law Section and Chair of the Health
Care Enforcement Defense Group. Ms. Foster represents health care
providers, product manufacturers, payors, and investors. She specializes
in statutory and regulatory issues affecting the provsion of health
care services; her practice includes counseling, structuring and
litigating fraud and abuse issues as well as reimbursement matters. In
2012, Ms. Foster was named one of the Top Women Lawyers in the Northeast
by Arrive magazine. In 2008 and 2010, she was recognized by
Nightingale's Healthcare News as an Outstanding Healthcare Fraud and
Compliance Lawyer. Ms. Foster was also named in the most recent edition
of Chambers USA: America's Leading Lawyers for Business as a
leader in her field, and was selected by her peers in 2011 and 2012 to
be included in The Best Lawyers in America. She serves on the
firm's Policy Committee and Pro Bono Committee. Ms. Foster received her
B.A. from Wellesley College, and her J.D., with honors, from the George
Washington University National Law Center.
Paul
E. Pelletier is a Member of the firm's Litigation
Section. Mr. Pelletier specializes in representing public and
private companies of all sizes and high-profile individuals in state and
federal investigations. He practices in the White
Collar Defense, Health
Care Enforcement Defense, and Foreign
Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA) Practice Groups. Mr. Pelletier
represents clients across various industries, including pharmaceutical,
biotechnology, medical device, and financial services. He enjoys a
reputation as one of the top white collar lawyers in the country,
recognized for investigating complex international corporate fraud
schemes. Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Pelletier served in the
Department of Justice (DOJ) as a federal prosecutor for more than 25
years, where he was lead counsel in more than 20 jury trials targeting
money laundering; sophisticated financial, corporate, and securities
fraud; and health care fraud. He received his B.A. from Providence
College and his J.D., with honors, from the New England School of Law,
where he served as managing editor of the New England Law Review.
Bruce
D. Sokler serves as the Manager of the firm's Antitrust &
Federal Regulation Section. Mr. Sokler has practiced antitrust law
for over 30 years. His practice includes antitrust counseling and
representation in connection with federal and state governmental
matters, as well as private antitrust litigation. Mr. Sokler counsels
and has represented Fortune 100 companies, not-for-profits, start-up
entities, and domestic and international joint ventures. He has been
involved in antitrust matters spanning a broad range of industries, but
has particularly deep expertise in the communications, health care and
retail industries. Mr. Sokler is listed in the 2012 edition of The
Best Lawyers in America for antitrust law. He was also named an
"Outstanding Healthcare Antitrust Lawyer" by Nightingale's Healthcare
News in 2007, 2008, and 2009. Mr. Sokler received his A.B., cum
laude, from Princeton University and his J.D. from Georgetown
University Law School, where he served as Editor-in-Chief of the Georgetown
Law Journal.
Howard
J. Symons is the Chairman of the firm's Communications
Section. Mr. Symons represents cable, wireless, and
telecommunications companies and trade associations on a wide range of
issues before Congress, regulatory bodies, and the courts. He was
honored with a 2010 National Cable & Telecommunications Association
Vanguard Award in the Associates & Affiliates category for his
significant contributions to the cable industry. Since 2000, Mr. Symons
has also been named annually in Chambers USA: America's Leading
Lawyers for Business as a leader in the Telecom, Broadcast, and
Satellite field, and has been listed each year since 2006 in The Best
Lawyers in America. He received his B.A., summa cum laude,
from Yale University and his J.D. from Harvard Law School.
