Fitnet 2.0 Selected as Featured Apple Health App

(PR Web Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) Blacksburg, VA (PRWEB) September 30, 2014 Fitnet, a top-rated health and fitness app, which uses a biometric webcam and human trainers to provide real-time feedback during video exercise, was selected as a featured app in multiple iTunes categories this week. Utilizing Apple's HealthKit API, Fitnet 2.0 was included in Apps in Health as well as Great Apps for iOS 8. Debuting in conjunction with the rollout of Apple iOS 8 two weeks ago, Fitnet 2.0 is a pioneer of Apple's HealthKit API, giving clients the ability to manage their health and fitness data in a central place, leading to enhanced wellness, health and fitness goal achievement.

"Apple has put health and fitness in the spotlight of this year's new product and software rollouts with Health App and Apple Watch," said founder and chief geek, Bob Summers. "Our unique health and fitness solution integrates data and action making a real impact on daily movement goals of the individual, and with the addition of Apple Watch the opportunities of Fitnet to provide data driven fitness will reach new heights." Fitnet's 2.0 delivers a more comprehensive and fun workout experience with the following updates:    •  Fitness Tracker: When worn, the iPhone accelerometer is used to score fitness instead of the camera. This feature is also Apple Watch ready for enhanced fitness analytics.

   •  Trainer: Clients can invite fitness trainers or enlist a Fitnet certified fitness pro to manage their fitness plan, help them to set goals and provide weekly encouragement in the app.

   •  Explore functionality: This allows clients to navigate the hundreds of strength, cardio and mind body exercises for instant or scheduled exercise.

   •  Seven-day workout planner and goal: Seven-day plan is a recurring series of workouts set on Sunday-Saturday, which can be managed by individually or by a remote trainer, and includes a weekly exercise goal.

"Studies and research show that the #1 way to attain your fitness goals is accountability. Fitnet 2.0 was designed to give both clients and trainers a more in-depth application for scheduling, tracking, scoring and maintaining fitness regimens on a weekly basis to boost accountability and motivation," said Summers. "We truly care about our clients' and trainers' feedback and fitness goals. So, we listened to their input when updating this app, and the result is Fitnet 2.0 – launched just in time for iOS 8 and the Health App." With more than one third of the U.S. population considered obese, increasing healthcare costs and heightened consumer awareness to the benefits of regular exercise, individuals and organizations are becoming more motivated to implement group fitness programs. As a result, Fitnet was created to offer clients from around the world access to a growing library of instructional fitness videos at the palm of their hands anywhere, at any time.

After its iPhone release in June, Fitnet was immediately recognized as the number one health and fitness app on iTunes. In addition, Fitnet's iPad app has received recognition from TechCrunch, Mozilla, the National Science Federation, Microsoft and Google, and was featured as one of the top fitness apps in the iTunes App store among WebMD Fitness, Weight Watchers and Disney Fitness.

Fitnet 2.0 is available now as a free download with over 200 workouts and counting for iPhone and iPad users at Apple's iTunes App Store.
