Firetide Launches Integrated Wireless Video Surveillance System to Reduce Cost and Complexity of Large-Scale Deployments

LOS GATOS, Calif. --(Business Wire)-- Firetide Inc., the leading developer of wireless infrastructure mesh networks, today launched Firetide IVS-100, an integrated wireless video surveillance solution for public safety and commercial security applications that will reduce the costs and complexities of large-scale video surveillance deployments. Available immediately, the all-in-one solution incorporates a Firetide HotPort® wireless mesh node, IP camera or analog video camera with IP encoder, and optional storage.

"Firetide IVS-100 makes it easier for public safety agencies and commercial security integrators to deploy and manage video surveillance systems, putting this valuable tool to use more quickly and cost-effectively," said Mike Duncan, Senior Vice President Sales - Security Solutions, at Anixter. "With the stimulus funding and increased focus on critical infrastructure, we expect continued growth in video infrastructure sales. The integrated Firetide solution is a perfect product to offer to our channel to speed up the rollouts of large-scale wireless video surveillance deployments." Firetide IVS-100 improves the aesthetics of video surveillance deployments as well, with out-of-sight cables connecting mesh node, camera and encoder within a weatherized enclosure which can be painted to order to meet specific installation requirements. Additionally, Firetide IVS-100 features an optional blue light to draw attention to the fact that the area is under surveillance.

The edge-of-network storage capability in Firetide IVS-100, combined with an option for on-demand transmission, reduces the load on the network, enabling support for more cameras with the same infrastructure. It also provides distributed access to recorded video from mobile incident command centers and enables retrieval of video should a major incident disable a large portion of the network.

"Building on field-proven Firetide wireless infrastructure mesh technology, Firetide IVS-100 goes beyond performance and scalability, and offers a customer-friendly form factor to improve aesthetics and reduce labor outlays in city-wide video surveillance deployments," said Bo Larsson, chief executive officer of Firetide.

Available through Anixter, Firetide IVS-100 integrates a Firetide HotPort® dual-radio mesh node; a high-end pan-tilt-zoom analog or IP camera; an encoder with integrated 40 GB storage capacity (with analog camera only). Firetide IVS-100 features both Ethernet and fiber connectors for easy integration with wired networks. It can also be ordered in a fiber-only version, with Ethernet-to-fiber transceiver instead of a wireless mesh node.
