Fairfax County EDA Works with 34 Businesses Adding Nearly 2,300 Jobs to the Local Economy


During the first quarter of 2017, the Fairfax County Economic Development Authority (FCEDA) provided services and resources to 34 businesses that are adding 2,297 jobs in Fairfax County.

Many of these businesses are in the information technology sector, including IOMAXIS of Springfield, which announced it would add 555 jobs, and CACI International, which is located in multiple areas of the county and is creating 401 jobs. Carahsoft, an information technology provider based in Reston, announced the addition of 300 jobs.

"Fairfax County has played an integral part in Carahsoft's continuous growth," said company founder and President Craig P. Abod. "When we started in 2005, we had but a handful of employees. Now, we have more than 700, enabling us to book more than $3.7 billion in business in 2016. Our proximity to the Metro, the northern Virginia tech corridor and the Metro area has proven tremendous for us as we continue to attract and retain outstanding employees and expand our partner and vendor ecosystems thanks to our Fairfax County location."

While IT firms were among the job leaders, Fairfax County's increasingly diversified economy was highlighted by the announcement that Helix Electric Inc. of Chantilly, an energy firm, is adding 416 jobs and that Aerotek (News - Alert), a staffing solutions proider in Fairfax, is adding 200.
