Extension Healthcare Named Nominee For Tech Company of the Year and Health Technology Awards

Extension Healthcare announced today that it has been selected as a nominee for the Tech Company of the Year Award and the Health Tech Award in TechPoint's 16th annual Mira Awards program. TechPoint is the voice and catalyst of Indiana's tech ecosystem and its Mira Awards recognize the best of tech in Indiana each year.

"We are honored to be considered for one of the top technology awards in Indiana, and humbled to be recognized as one of the best tech companies," said Todd Plesko, Chief Executive Officer at Extension Healthcare. "We have experienced tremendous growth over the past 5 years since introducing clinical leaders to our unique technology and excited to see it making a positive impact on the lives of users and patients."

"The Mira Awards is our opportunity to come together as a community to celebrate these tremendous success stories and amplify them to thousands of people, including media, investors and technology buyers," said Mike Langellier, president and Chief Executive Officer of TechPoint.

The Extension Engage Mobile™ smartphone app presents a single view that displays alarms, alerts, and texts in order of priority, and provides a clinician with contextual data to enable a data and event-driven response. In addition to delivering actionable information, event response options enable the nurse to quickly select and communicate with relevant members of the care team via call or text message. Engage Mobile dynamically generates a list of relevant staff customized to the patient and the alarm/alert, and helps reduce unnecessary interruptions and the associated alarm fatigue.

Mira Award nominees were selected by more than 40 independent subject matter experts who evaluated and ranked the applications. Then, all nominees deliver presentations and answer questions in-person with one of the independent judging panels. The judges will select the winners following their deliberations.

Winners will be announced at a masquerade-themed, black-tie awards ceremony and gala on Saturday, May 2, at the JW Marriott. Note that May 2 is rescheduled from the previously announced date of March 21.

About Extension Healthcare

Extension Healthcare is radically changing clinical communications and alarm management. Extension focuses on advanced alarm functionality and event response through intelligent middleware. Among other things, the Extension Engage™ software addresses The Joint Commission's NPSG for alarm safety (06.01.01) and reporting critical results of tests and diagnostic procedures (02.03.01). This distinctive approach enables clinical collaboration to occur in response to patient-related critical events via event driven secure text messaging and voice. The Engage solution provides an advanced clinical rules and workflow engine that delivers intelligent notifications based on key contextual alarm, patient, and care team data. These intelligent notifications are securely routed to the appropriate staff members via their preferred communications device to support informed clinical engagement across the hospital system and beyond. Through Extension Engage, clinicians can instantly initiate informed responses to critical events through secure text response and voice call and engage their patients and other members of the care team from any location. Extension Engage Medical Device Alarm Notification has been granted FDA 510k Class II clearance for secondary notification.
