Expand launches Russia office: The WAN optimization firm also appointed a new sales director for the region to head the office.

(Globes Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) Aug. 24--WAN optimization accelerator developer Expand Networks has opened an office in Russia. The firm also named Albert Katsir as its sales director for Russia.

Expand already operates in Russia, and is used in several financial institutions. The company has also been successful in selling to the energy, gas and telecom sectors, with customers including SurgutNeftGAs, DalSviaz, and Equant Orange Business Services.



Expand expects an increased presence across Russia will see the company further develop its customer base across all vertical markets. With so many disparate office environments across Russia, satellite networks have become common practice to assist organizations in business agility.

"There is a huge market for the superior capabilities and flexibility of our technology," said Expand VP EMEA Adam Davison, adding, "The ease of centralization and management of the Expand Compass platform presents an incredibly appealing proposition for enterprises in the region particularly when you consider the unique geography of the country and the dispersed environment that many operate in."



Albert Katsir joins Expand from a RAD Group company where he held the position of Director of International Sales. Katsir will be responsible for day-to-day operations across the region.

Expand Networks recently raised $10 million in a sixth financing round. A new investor, Intel Capital, joined existing investors in the round.

Expand Networks customers include American Express, Bacardi USA, BMW, Continental Airlines, Target, and US Department of Defense.
