Excelera Specialty Pharmacy Network Names James M. Fox President and Chief Executive Officer [Global Data Point]

(Global Data Point Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) "Jim Fox is absolutely the right choice to serve as President and CEO of this innovative organization that's leading the way in specialty pharmacy services," said Nick Barto, Senior Vice President of Catholic Health Initiatives based in Englewood, Colo., who led the ExceleraRx Board search committee. "Under Jim's leadership, Excelera will effectively support its members in developing and operating specialty pharmacies that improve patient care and reduce the total cost of care." Fox is a proven leader with more than 35 years of executive leadership experience in health care. He served as Chief Financial Officer for Fairview Health Services in Minneapolis, where he was instrumental in the start up and operations of Fairview Pharmacy Services. Most recently, he has been partnered with national organizations, including Excelera, to develop innovative, high-value health care services.

"I have had the privilege of working with Jim for many years and the opportunity to see his leadership in action," said Albert (Bert) Zimmerli, the Board Chair of ExceleraRx and Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer, Intermountain Healthcare. "His comprehensive knowledge of health care, relentless focus on results, and high integrity make him the ideal leader for the Excelera organization at this time." The Excelera network creates national-scale efficiency and new levels of quality standards; it also negotiates on behalf of its member organizations to remove barriers to specialty drug access and monitoring. Patients and providers of Excelera network members benefit from a member-owned specialty pharmacy integrated into their care team that can easily access specialty pharmaceuticals and that knows the patient's care plan.

"I am passionate about fostering collaborations that serve health care organizations and their patients well in today's evolving health care marketplace," said Fox. "I look forward to continuing to build momentum and capabilities within the Excelera network to achieve those goals." The Excelera network provides its member organizations with:    • Support in obtaining payer contracts for reimbursement of specialty pharmaceuticals in an outpatient setting.

   • Sophisticated data management infrastructure required for drug manufacturer and payer access agreements, including data informatics, analytics, timeliness, accuracy, format and national scale.

   • Contract management related to data and compliance with manufacturer standards. Excelera, based in Minneapolis, was formed in 2012 to enable member organizations to gain access to limited-distribution drugs and provide continuity of care for patients with complex conditions who require specialty drugs. Today, the Excelera organization includes Banner Health, Henry Ford Health System, Marshfield Clinic, Catholic Health Initiatives, Fairview Health Services (which includes the University of Minnesota Medical Center), Intermountain Healthcare, Avera Health, and Regional Health.
