Ethertronics Debuts World's First Device Integrating High-Performance RF Switching, Tunable Capacitance, and a Full-Featured Microcontroller for Maximum Connectivity in M2M and Other Wireless Devices

Ethertronics, a leading technology company enabling innovative antenna and RF system solutions to deliver the best connected experience, today launched EtherChip™ EC446™, the world's first device integrating high-performance RF switching, tunable capacitance, and a full-featured microcontroller. EtherChip EC446 enables a host of antenna system applications for M2M products, wireless phones, tablets, notebooks, IoT, and other wireless devices. Ethertronics (News - Alert) will be showcasing its new EtherChip EC446 and other innovative solutions in its booth during CTIA Super Mobility 2015 (Booth #5538), September 9-11, 2015 in Las Vegas.

EC446, in concert with Ethertronics' IMD antenna technology and embedded algorithms, provide a complete active antenna system that can be as adaptive and autonomous as the application requires. Additionally, Ethertronics' EC446, IMD antennas and algorithms enable the control and optimization of critical system performance attributes such as radiation pattern, center frequency, impedance matching, and more. This control provides revolutionary improvements in data throughput, interference reduction, handoff between towers, connection reliability and spectral efficiency.

"Our new EtherChip EC446 is a testament to the continued work we are conducting in bringing innovative solutions to market that meet OEMs' growing needs for a wide range of applications - from M2M products uch as smart meters and automotive infotainment systems, to wireless phones and other IoT devices," said Vahid Manian, COO of Ethertronics. "Our new EC446 device coupled with an advanced Ethertronics antenna architecture provides OEMs with an easy-to-integrate, plug-and-play solution for their devices, ultimately decreasing time to market and allowing them to deliver to their customers competitive, high-performance, high-connectivity products."

With an operating frequency of 100 MHz - 7000 MHz, EC446 supports Bluetooth, GSM/WCDMA/LTE, WiFi (News - Alert), RFID and GPS. It has a minimal footprint at just 3.0 x 3.0x 0.75 mm3 in a 24-pin QFN package. Minimal power consumption is required for operation. EC446 additionally features a flexible control interface that is customizable between SPI, I2C, UART and MIPI protocols. Multiple interface options provide flexibility; allowing OEMs and integrators to speed up integration and testing. Worldwide applications support and user development tools are available, including: evaluation board, antenna reference design, host firmware driver, PC control software and driver.
