Ellen L. Behrens is recognized by Continental Who's Who

MODESTO, Calif., Jan. 24, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- Ellen L. Behrens is recognized by Continental Who's Who as a Pinnacle Professional in the field of Social Services in recognition of her role as a Software Developer / Analyst III with the Stanislaus County Community Services Agency. Specializing in Web Design and Programming, Behrens has attained extensive experience in Government Computer Purchasing, Software License Compliance, and Physical Inventory. Ellen began working with computer companies in the Bay Area, and now, located in Central California, she progressed to her current technical position as Software Developer. In her current role, Ellen has assisted in the production of media for the Community Services Agency, and worked on producing the 2012 calendar for the Child Abuse Prevention Council (CAPC).

Throughout her career, Ellen has invested time and funds in educating herself, and by taking advantage of opportunities at work to do her job to the best of her ability. A major obstacle she has faced throughout her career has been criticism by others due to her degree in Music- people would often ask how she got into computers from a musical standpoint, but at the end of the day, Ellen says all experience can provide knowledge which can be used in other situations. When asked her advice to newcomers in the industry, Ellen emphasizes the importance of "Making use of every opportunity you are given. Learn what is there to be learned. Don't hold yourself above doing the small tings because they lead to knowledge and so often to other opportunities."

Throughout the course of her education and training, Ellen attended Stanford University where she graduated with distinction, and received an A.B. in the study of Music. Ellen also received a Russian Translator's Certificate for written Russian to English translation at that time.

One of her greatest professional influences was her former employer, Sigrid Lorenzen Rupp, who was an architect. She was a very independent woman and encouraged Ellen to be so as well. Rupp greatly supported Ellen during her time as an independent consultant, and she says she wouldn't be where she is today if it weren't for Sigrid. Ellen continues to work with various coaches and mentors to excel in life. She attributes her longstanding success in her career to her avid love for learning. She states, "There is always more to learn. Also, with my background in a non-technical subject (Music), I have the ability to explain technical things to non-technical people and I enjoy doing that."

In her spare time, Ellen enjoys dog obedience, fiber arts such as knitting and crocheting, and reading. In 2014, she opened her home three years ago to a Shetland Sheepdog rescue named Peavy, who is now eight and a half years old.  To further her professional development, Ellen is an affiliate of several organizations including Toastmasters International. There, Ellen was the recipient of the Competent Communicator (CC) award in June 2015 and has served as President of the CSA Crusaders Toastmasters club.

When she is not working, Ellen's favorite pastimes is travel, and she enjoys vacationing with one of her close friends. Her friend, Phyllis, is the Chair of the Department of History at the College of Charleston and a medieval historian, therefore each trip they take is always fun and insightful. Together, they have been to Germany, Ireland, England, and Scotland.

Ellen looks forward to donating her knowledge and expertise to local organizations when it's time to retire.
