Electronic Medical Records Are Safe, Says Creator of Sushoo EMR Software
Orlando, Fla., Jan 05, 2010 (PRNewsChannel.com via COMTEX) --
As medical facilities make the transition to electronic medical records software, Naveen Venkatachalam, creator of the Sushoo EMR software, says physicians and patients should not have to worry about security.
"Transmitting medical records electronically is safe," says Ventkatachalam. "The security measures are similar to what banks use for online transactions."
Medical records sent with Sushoo software can only be accessed by the physician who sends the information and the doctor who receives it. No one else can view the files.
"All medical information is encrypted, so only specific medical professionals can access it," says Dr. Venkatachalam.
The Obama administration wants electronic medical records on file for every American by the year 2014. The government is offering $20 billion in assistance to help medical facilities get their EMR systems up and running. There will also be penalties for healthcare providers who fail to implement an EMR system by the deadline.
