The client has a central operational solution for all schools in Oslo. There are 175 schools with approximately 75,000 users. Schools are divided into seven school groups from A to G. The operating solution includes messaging infrastructure, storage, printing, web, application hotels, LAN management, client operations (both thick and thin) and service desk. A local ICT environment of a typical school consists of a few hundred computers (laptops and desktops) and thin clients, dozens of smart boards and projectors, a sizable collection of digital devices such as cameras, memory card readers, cameras and USB sticks, a gigabit backbones and 100Mbit LAN. Operating solution is composed of services from multiple systems and vendors. The Principal also has a large portfolio of different educational applications centrally located and some locally hosted by the schools themselves, or by other internal or external operating contractors. Each school is organized with an IT manager who maintains contact between teachers and service desk at the central operating provider. ICT Manager is also responsible for performing IT related tasks that require local presence in school. Some schools want to buy performance of such tasks and the client intends to conclude a framework agreement on this that schools can make call-off. Each school considers themselves the function of ICT liable to be purchased. The current level of such outsourcing is collected for all schools of approximately 9 million. Annually. It will be subscribed agreements with up to 3 suppliers per school group.
