Eaton Receives Platinum Distinction Award as a 2014 Best Employer for Healthy Lifestyles® from the National Business Group on Health

WASHINGTON --(Business Wire)--

Power management company Eaton (News - Alert) this week received a platinum award in Washington D.C. from the National Business Group on Health. The group's 2014 Best Employer for Healthy Lifestyles® award recognized Eaton for its ongoing commitment and dedication to promoting a healthy work environment and encouraging its workers and families to maintain healthy lifestyles.

Eaton was one of 20 employers that received the platinum award at the Leadership Summit sponsored by the National Business Group on Health's Institute on Innovation in Workforce Well-being. Eaton received a platinum award for its Powering You to Live Well program. Another 43 employers received the group's gold award. This marks the second year Eaton has received an award. Last year, Eaton earned a gold award and a special Global Distinction award for its efforts to enhance the physical, psychological and emotional health, well-being and productivity of global employees and their dependents.

"Employee health and wellness at Eaton not only benefit our employees but our company as a whole. It's imperative we provide our employees with the proper tools and atmosphere where they can flourish and be healthy," said Cindy Brabander, Eaton's executive vice president and chief human resources officer. "We're proud to be recognized by the National Business Group on Health as we continue our wellness efforts for our employees around the world."

Eaton's Powering You to Live Well program is baed on five pillars of wellness: eat healthy, manage stress, get fit, be tobacco free and know your numbers. In the program, objectives include significantly reducing Eaton's overall health care costs over five years without shifting costs to employees and providing employees and family members best-in-class health management programs. Globally, Eaton believes that its wellness strategy promotes a healthier, more productive workforce and enables the company to be an employer of choice.

Brian Marcotte, President and CEO of the National Business Group on Health, commented: "We are very pleased to honor Eaton for its dedication to providing programs that encourage wellness and healthy lifestyles for their employees and families. Eaton is among an elite group of organizations that are leading the way to promote healthy workplaces and lifestyles. Eaton and its management team should be proud of their efforts and we congratulate them on receiving this award."

Winners of the "Best Employers for Healthy Lifestyles" awards were honored in one of two categories: Platinum, for exemplary workplace well-being programs, cultures and results; or Gold, for creating cultural and environmental changes that support employees in their lifestyle and behavior changes.
