Eastwind Networks Wins Grant From Utah Science Technology and Research (USTAR)

Eastwind Networks, the cybersecurity solutions and breach analytics cloud platform designed to provide visibility, forensics and incident response capabilities to enterprises, today announced that the company is the recipient of a Utah Science Technology and Research (USTAR) grant. Eastwind Networks was awarded $162,000 as part of the Technology Acceleration Program.

Eastwind was one of 155 applicants for USTAR's Technology Acceleration Program, which works to promote Utah's targeted technology sectors. The company plans to use these funds to further its innovations in big data and machine learning research. The gran follows a $5.5 million seed extension round in 2016.

"We are proud to partner with the Governor's Office of Economic Development as one of the many great Utah technology companies positioned to transform tech as a whole," said Paul Kraus, CEO of Eastwind Networks. "Cybersecurity impacts everyone from the legislature to the individual-and with an increase from cyberwar to SMB ransomware-this grant couldn't have come at a better time. USTAR is enabling us to innovate at the forefront of cybersecurity, protecting people and country."

As the system of record that collects telemetry from traditional and corporate networks, hybrid environments, remote users and cloud providers, Eastwind delivers complete visibility of key cyber terrain to accelerate breach detection and enhance forensics.

With this grant from USTAR, Eastwind Networks will focus on building the first-of-its-kind approach in the security industry to use minimal signals about malicious activity from different sources to learn new anomalous activity on demand. Eastwind is enhancing its machine learning capabilities to detect novel and unknown attack patterns to keep pace with shifting adversary tactics, techniques and procedures.
