Duke to Expand Footprint in Kannapolis, Google included as partner

Officials from the North Carolina Research Campus formally announced today that Duke University is expanding its presence at their site. Duke originally opened an office there in 2008 to manage the MURDOCK STUDY, a program that promises to technologically identify linkages across major diseases and disorders in order to defeat some of today's leading causes of illness and death. M.U.R.D.O.C.K stands for the Measurement to Understand the Reclassification of Disease of Cabarrus/Kannapolis.

The Duke University office expansion will be located in the Medical Office Building facility at the research campus. It will include flexible office space and exam rooms on the third floor of the building. The new office will allow partners, including Google (News - Alert), to collaborate with Duke University and the MURDOCK STUDY.

"Having innovative organizations lke Duke University and Google at the NCRC is exactly what Mr. Murdock envisioned," says Dr. Lynne Scott Safrit, President, Castle & Cooke NC, the developer of the NC Research Campus.

Duke's facility will include 5,000 sf of flexible office space with four exam room. The anticipated move in date is July 2015. Carolinas Healthcare System is the anchor tenant in the 60,000 sf office building.
