DSL BonAAA¢â‚¬sA‚®kka wins Silver Award in UK at Independent Toy Awards 2014

(Daily Financial Times (Sri Lanka) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) The inspiration to create their own brand had been a longanticipated desire of DSL Lanka, a manufacturer of soft toys for the international market, being in the industry for over 20 years.

Thus in the course of time DSL's very own trademarked brand of dolls 'BonAAA¢â‚¬sA‚®kka' was launched at the International Toy Fair in Nurnberg, Germany in January 2014. Following the release of BonAAA¢â‚¬sA‚®kka, the brand has shown tremendous potential within the short span of time.

Marking a noteworthy milestone, the 'Honey' doll of the 'BonAAA¢â‚¬sA‚®kka All Natural' collection has won the Silver Award of the Dolls Category at the Independent Toy Awards 2014 held in the United Kingdom.

Organised by the Toy Shop UK, The Independent Toy Awards is considered one of the most reputed toy awards in the UK, and is a benchmark that sets standards for toy manufacturers from around the globe. The Gold, Silver and Bronze awards are presented under 25 categories after being subjected to a voting by independent toy retailers.

Commenting on this achievement, which is a testament to the brand excellence of BonAAA¢â‚¬sA‚®kka, DSL Lanka Director/CEO Mano Sheriff stated that the company was extremely proud of this accolade. She added: "There has never been a gift more universallyperfect for a little girl than a doll. It is a gift that even as adults we cherish. BonAAA¢â‚¬sA‚®kka is my way of ensuring that every little girl gets to share in this tradition, the way I was able to, and experience the special joy of receiving their first doll." The story of the DSL BonAAA¢â‚¬sA‚®kka is rather inspiring. It all began with a gift that was presented to a daughter by her father as a symbol of love and security when she left home. Named Monica, the doll was her steadfast companion as she began a new life.

As she became the mother of four girls, the treasured toy Monica was passed on to the youngest. Monica now sits in the office of the youngest daughter, where the team spearheaded by her creates some of the world's best soft toys and dolls. As such Monica a symbol of fatherly love and a memento of the unique bond between mothers and daughters is the inspiration behind DSL BonAAA¢â‚¬sA‚®kka.

This is the second accolade for dolls won by DSL Lanka. Previously in 2013 an adaptation of DSL's Natalie doll presented by Nature's Purest, a UK Retailer for Natural dolls and Nursery products, won the 'Loved By Parents' Gold Award for the Best Doll in the Soft Toy category.

The dolls are manufactured as a 100% cotton product and stuffed with recycled PET fibre, adhering to ecofriendly production practices. The operations are spread over two factories with an over 1,000 strong workforce and a production capacity of 200,000 pieces per month. "The response for BonAAA¢â‚¬sA‚®kka has been phenomenal. It has received recognition as a quality and a preferred brand within a short span of time. We currently distribute this product to the UK, USA, France, Spain and a host of other countries. With the progress and achievements thus far, we certainly foresee a definite good future for the brand," said DSL Lanka Head of Corporate Communications Cyril Perera.
