DRS Tactical Systems Partners with Rugged Notebooks, Inc.

(Targeted News Service Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) PARSIPPANY, N.J., Sept. 14 -- DRS Technologies issued the following news release: DRS Technologies, Inc., a Finmeccanica Company announced that its Tactical Systems Group has partnered with Rugged Notebooks, Inc. a leading provider of ruggedized portable computers and handheld devices.


The partnership will enable Rugged Notebooks to resell DRS ARMORTM Rugged Mobile Solutions.

As part of the agreement, Rugged Notebooks will offer to its customers the ARMORTM X10gx and ARMORTM X7 rugged mobile tablets, which are specifically designed for mission-critical tasks that require connectivity, mobility, ease of use, and the durability to support all-weather operations.

Both the ARMORTM X10gx and ARMORTM X7 are MIL-STD certified for extremes in temperature,vibration, shock, and drops. They feature a range of connectivity options that go beyond WWAN, including Bluetooth(R) wireless, integrated GPS, Gobi(TM) mobile broadband, and 802.11 a/g/n WiFi.

With a weight of just 4.7 Ibs. and a 10.4" sunlight-readable touch screen display, the ARMORTM X10gx carries an ingress protection (IP) rating of 67, which means it is fully protected against dust and can withstand the effects of immersion in water to depths up to three feet (or one meter). Other features include a new docking system, an Intel(R) Core2 Duo(TM) Processor with up to 4GB RAM, an Intel embedded Montevina system architecture, and a 64GB solid-state hard drive with options up to160GB that is user-replaceable.

The ARMORTM X7 compact rugged tablet offers hand-held mobility at a weight of 2.85 lbs., with a sunlight-readable touch screen display. Like the ARMORTM X10gx, it has the durability to support all-weather operations with an IP65 rating. It features the Intel(R) Atom(TM) processor N450 and runs Microsoft Windows 7 Professional. The ARMORTM X7 also marks the debut of the new m-SATA solid state drives from Intel in the rugged marketplace, in both 40GB and 80GB capacities.
