(Comtex Business Via Thomson Dialog NewsEdge)LONDON, Jan 04, 2006 (Dow Jones Commodities News via Comtex) --Jamster, the creator of the Crazy Frog ringtone, spent GBP45 million on advertising in the U.K. in 2005, largely on traditional media such as television and newspapers, The Times reports Wednesday.
The figure was far greater than the advertising spend of big retailers including Marks & Spencer PLC (MKS.LON) and Asda Group Ltd. (AGP.YY), The Times says.
Jamster's advertising outlay increased more than threefold in 2005, lifting it from 167th place in the league of advertisers in the U.K. in 2004, when it spent GBP14.7 million, to 22nd by mid-December 2005, The Times says, citing figures from Nielsen Media Research.
The top two U.K. advertisers were Unilever PLC (UK) and Procter & Gamble Co. (PG). Unilever spent GBP213.6 million on U.K. advertising in 2005, The Times says.
