DJ Liffe Coffee Review: Down Slightly, Trims Early Losses
(Comtex Finance Via Thomson Dialog NewsEdge)LONDON, Jan 23, 2006 (Dow Jones Commodities News via Comtex) --Liffe robusta coffee futures finished slightly lower Monday, but trimmed losses late session with the help of spillover strength in New York arabica coffee.
March settled down $6 at $1,253 a metric ton with 4,691 lots traded.
On the open, Liffe March coffee had fallen to a two-session low of $1,230/ton in response to Friday's fall in New York.
Brokers indicated that the technical upward trend seen in both London and New York coffee futures remains intact.
Fundamentally, eyes remain on Vietnam, as sales from the world's largest robusta supplier remain stagnant following this season's overly wet harvest.
Tet, a week-long celebration of the Vietnamese Lunar New Year, starts Jan. 30. Trade there will close during the holiday, but some producer selling could be seen in front of the holiday this year, brokers warned.
